Seeking Individuals for an Advisory Committee on Discrimination, Oppression and Inequity

The College of Physiotherapists of Alberta is currently seeking to recruit individuals to contribute to an Advisory Committee on Discrimination, Oppression and Inequity.

The College of Physiotherapists of Alberta has committed to reviewing our current policies, procedures, and standards from an anti-discrimination and anti-oppression perspective. The Advisory Committee is being formed to draw upon the lived experiences and perspectives of members of historically marginalized communities, to identify priorities and inform the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta’s future actions. The Advisory Committee will provide a non-regulatory perspective on current College policies, procedures, and standards.

Through this work, we seek to render regulatory processes and practices non-discriminatory and equitable, to reflect diverse perspectives and culture in the resources we generate, and to advance the skills and attitudes of registrants related to cultural humility and equity.

The ideal committee membership will include members of the public and physiotherapists who self-identify as members of historically marginalized communities. If you are interested in this opportunity, please complete an expression of interest. We also ask regulated members of the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta to share this opportunity with patients and members of the public, helping us to spread the word about this important initiative.

Questions regarding this initiative may be directed to Leanne Loranger at lloranger@cpta.ab.ca.
