Individuals seeking admittance to the General register are required to complete a clinical competency examination approved by Council in accordance with the Physical Therapists Profession Regulation.
On November 19, 2022, Council approved the Post-Graduate Clinical Examination Eligibility Policy. This eligibility policy will be applied to all future exam administrations following the February 2023 administration. The eligibility policy can be found here.

The College of Physiotherapists of Alberta has an agreement with the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, Continuing Professional Education Unit (CPE unit) of the University of Alberta to administer the Post-Graduate Clinical Examination.
Future examinations will be administered on:
- October 14 and 15, 2023
- February 24 and 25, 2024
All eligible candidates will be notified when registration for these examination dates is available and the CPTA website will be updated accordingly.
